Analytics

Our system was gaining traction, but clients had no way of quantifying their account's statistics until now.

Categorization of each data grouping wasn't simple. We initially thought we could separate them by function alone, but then realized that we could group functions with permission levels and make a more efficient analytics homepage for each user. We ended up combining these 2 methods to provide the best accessibility options without cluttering the interface. We chose a random data point to display on each category's preview window in this dashboard display.

Categories

If a user wants to see more specific data on each category, they can click into it to be provided with all available data points (displayed as either full width or 1/3 width boxes). Each box is fully interactable and can be sorted by date range.

Drilling Down

As an accountability measure, managers wanted to know the activity history of all portal users as well.

User Data

Portal user activity data included a myriad of statistics that could be used to measure the effectiveness of each account's employees or third party team members. This insight suddenly empowered clients and transformed how they valued our software.

After the portal went through a major redesign, we were left with a satisfied client base. But there was a missing piece... some accounts weren't able to effectively communicate the system's usage to upper management. This was severely impacting the perceived value of our system. Decision makers needed to know the data, and have it presented to them in an efficient manner. We embarked on an analytics project to fill this need.

The Challenge

A showcase video was created as part of a webcast series that aimed to educate clients on newer features. I wrote, directed and edited this video, among others.

Showcase Video

This Analytics project put an exclamation point on a series of portal redesigns that took place over the course of several months. With a smaller team, the creative torch was exclusively mine to hold, allowing me to play a little more in the sandbox of my own ideas. I had to set cut-offs for myself when exploring these concepts, and ultimately I believe our team pulled it off eloquently (a designer's best friend is a design-forward developer with an attention to detail).

Final Thoughts

As a smaller project, I was the sole designer tasked with creating the user experience and designing this interface. I worked with one of our junior developers for execution.
